Biography for Deborah R. Hines, M.Ed.
Ms. Deborah Hines is the president & founder of the Center for Individual and Organizational Effectiveness (C4IOE), a management consulting company founded in 1998 that provides services to business & non-profit clients across the U.S. and internationally including Clorox, Eastman Chemical, Bechtel-Bettis, Cargill, Dow Corning, Nigel Burgess of London and Akira Investments of Monaco, AGR International, Colonial Pipeline, H.J. Heinz, Medrad, Mine Safety Appliances (MSA), Catholic Charities, Butler Health System, Pittsburgh Business Group on Health, St. Margaret Hospital Foundation, United Jewish Federation, etc. Ms. Hines consults in the areas of: organizational consulting and development, strategic planning, leadership, people trends and planning, entrepreneurship, operational planning, higher education, performance improvement, executive & career coaching, human resources and non-profit management.
While operating C4IOE, Ms. Hines also directed college programs and consulted or taught with several universities. She currently provides consulting services to clients of the Center for Corporate and Executive Education at Duquesne University. She started and directed an entrepreneurship program for Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, and taught social entrepreneurship to MBA students while doing business outreach in the U.S. and abroad. She also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at LaRoche College for 6 years. She has also spoken at a number of conferences around the U.S. on topics related to people planning strategies, corporate universities and social entrepreneurship.
Prior to starting C4IOE, Ms. Hines headed the organization development & training department and provided services to employees in North America, including some global responsibilities, for the H.J.Heinz Company. She also worked for Burgess Norton Manufacturing, Kraft General Foods and Dial Corporations in the Chicago and mid-west region, managing groups in organization development, training, production operations and financial analysis.
Ms. Hines has served in volunteer or consulting roles for over 50 non-profit organizations such as: Healthcare for the Homeless, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Big Brothers/Sisters, Christmas in April, Christian Appalachian Project, Maina Coffee of Kenya, Amnesty International, Hospice of the Great Lakes, Adopt-A-Family, Dismas House, Beit Benedict Peace Academy - Jerusalem, etc. She serves on the social services & executive committees for the Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh.
Ms. Hines has a M.Ed. from Loyola University of Chicago in corporate instructional management and organizational development. She also received a B.A. in psychology & business from the University of Notre Dame.
In her spare time, and also as part of the offerings from C4IOE, Deb leads groups on outdoor/adventure-based activities, programs and trips. She has also trained hike leaders and those who provide wilderness first aid. Her interests include: backpacking, canoeing, hiking, biking, spirituality in the workplace, reading, running and music.
